Hey, I'm Dave!
I'm Dave, the guy behind Austin's Kamado Joe Masterclass. I'm a home cook turned backyard pitmaster who believes you don't need a restaurant kitchen to make incredible food-you just need good ingredients, a little guidance, and a hot grill.
I started cooking on a Kamado Joe years ago and quickly became obsessed with what you can do on a ceramic grill: low-and-slow BBQ, blazing-hot sears, wood‑fired baking, and everything in between. Over time, I took the techniques and flavors I loved from Austin's food scene and brought them into my own backyard-then started sharing them so you can do the same.
My goal is simple: help you grill better and eat better. I break down each recipe step‑by‑step, explain the "why" behind the process, and focus on repeatable techniques you can trust-from nailing the perfect brisket bark to reverse‑searing steaks, smoking pork chops, and even turning out desserts on the grill.
Whether you're lighting your Kamado for the first time or looking to level up your Texas BBQ game, I'm here to make live‑fire cooking approachable, fun, and seriously delicious.
If you have any questions, shoot me a message at dscott@kamadojoemasterclass.com. I will get right back to you.
